Today Show Throws ANOTHER Wedding, Race to the Altar

It seems like we just finished up a Today Show
wedding, and BAM! How many couples really
want to get married on TV? Its another wedding and
its called Race to the Altar with an Asian theme.
I don't understand the correlation between the
name and the theme. Am I missing something?

Here's what I don't understand: Why would you
allow strangers to pick your wedding theme,
dress, bridesmaid dresses, menswear, wedding rings,
etc? Is a free wedding really worth it?

What if you HATE the dress? You could see by the
look on the face of LaDonna, the bride, that she didn't like
some of the couture wedding dresses. At least America didn't
vote for the ones where her face was making the
OMG expression. As teeny as she is, I just couldn't see
her in the Amsale dress with the flowers on the bust line.
I didn't really see any dresses that truly would flatter
her tiny petite figure. Send in a REAL bridal consultant
who sells dresses in the trenches everyday, and she'd
come up with 4 dynamite dresses that a real bride
would wear to a real wedding.

So today on Today, they showed some breathtaking
wedding bands. It didn't look like any of them would
fit under her stunning engagement ring. The solution
according to the expert? Wear the engagement ring on
the right hand. Most women would rather wear them
a set. The rings are all to die for, I'd definitely covet all of them!

How does LaDonna and Darnell keep up their gracious
attitude if they don't like the choices made for them?
La Donna is so gracious and sweet, I really have to
hand it to her. I couldn't be that cool. I'd be like...
WTF? I'm not wearing that! Or my maids would look
like total crap in that dress. Are you kidding me?
Just give me all the rings and I'll be happy!

Create An Outdoor Room at Your Wedding Reception

Your guests will appreciate a small outdoor
setting at your wedding reception where they
can go outside to chat, cool off or smoke.
Many reception sites have outdoor rooms
for this very reason. When the music is
rocking, some friends or family who haven't
seen each other in ages want to catch up,
but they can't do it inside. Give them an
area where everyone can take a break from
the festivities and relax. If your reception
hall has an outdoor room, kick it up a notch by
adding fresh plants or potted flowers and ash
trays for the smokers in the group. Don't forget
a small trash can for them to toss bottles and cans.

If your reception hall doesn't have an outdoor room,
ask them if one can be created by just bringing out
some benches, or tables and chairs.

Your guests will appreciate your thoughtfulness
and you probably will end up outside taking
a breather from dancing!

More Wedding Trends for 2008 & 2009 Reception Trends

Trends come and go in bridal. Here's some of the latest wedding
trends we've compiled from
interviewing our savy brides.

Edible fruit centerpieces: Very organic, very fresh,
very expensive, not for the budget bride. There
are labor intensive and must be done the day
of the wedding, so its a bit difficult for the
do it yourselfer. They literally make my
mouth water and are a feast for the eyes.
Best part, they match most decors. Downside:
they'll get eaten and you won't have centerpieces
for the entire reception.

Fruits and flowers in bouquets and centerpieces
.

Fruits are put in the bases of clear vases or used in
the actual floral arrangement.

Tall, thin unique wedding cakes done in marzipan
without all the fluff and done in bright, unique colors.

The first dance
A lot of couples are borrowing from Dancing With
The Stars and learning ballroom dance for their first
dance at the reception.
Others are coreographing their first dance to mimic a
music video or their favorite song to surprise their guests.
One you've seen on YouTube is the wedding party and family
doing
Michael Jackson's Thriller dance at the reception.
I loved it! What a fun family!

The green reception

Many aware couples are incorporating eco
friendly aspects into their wedding receptions
such as wildflower favors or donating to
the Sierra club in lieu of a favor.

Planting these wildflower favor hearts will actually
grow wildflowers!

What kind of bride are you?

There are different kinds of drivers on the
highway as there are different brides.

There's the driver who is going
in circles, missing their exit.

There's the driver with their
turn signal on way too soon, letting
everyone know their intentions.

There's the driver speeding
between cars, changing lanes and getting
nowhere.

There's the driver who's lost, confused
and upset looking for directions.

And there's the confident driver, speeding
along with traffic, knowing where's she's
headed and making good time getting there.

The bride going in circles is disorganized and
stressed out. She needs guidance and advice.
She misses opportunities because she's too
fixated on one thing. Get off the merry
go round with some stress busting tips
and some rock solid advice.

The bride with her turn signal on is carefully
plotting her wedding, letting everyone know
every detail. She's cautious, thoughtful
and organized.

The bride speeding is making fast wedding plans,
changing her mind and getting nowhere fast. She
needs to slow down, take one thing at a time
and trust her decisions.

The bride who is lost, confused and looking for
directions needs a plan. She needs guidance,
she needs organization and she needs help. She
is drowning in details and needs to set priorities
and work her plan.

The confident bride knows where she is going with
her wedding plans, is organized and is speedily
moving along with the plan.

Which bride are you?

Wedding Reality TV Shows, Oh, Hell NO!

Weddingzilla disses the wedding reality shows.

OK, so I was under the influence of cold meds
and switching the channels, when I came across the
wedding reality shows on TLC. Six mind numbing hours
later, I wanted to smash my TV. Wedding reality,
Oh, hell, no!! Why would anyone submit themselves
and their wedding to this crap?

First was the show "Say Yes to the Dress".
Reality? Only if you are one of the very chosen
few who can actually afford to drop 6 grand or more on
a wedding gown at Kleinfeld's. And while these
whining princesses are trying on dresses, the
sales associates are bickering, stressed out and
placating the bride divas. That's reality in a
bridal salon, spending that obscene amount of cash
on a wedding dress is fantasy.

Not one bride looked at the dress and screamed
"My gawd, this is the most expensive dress
I've ever tried on in my life". Instead, they told their
bridal consultant that they'd get what they wanted and
budget was no object. Camera pans to mom, looking like
she's going to have to take on another job, remortgage
the house, sell her soul and find a really rich second
husband to pay for the spoiled brat's dream dress.
Husband number one will drop dead over the wedding costs.

Next came a show about the brides stampeding at Filene's
basement wedding gown sale. Did it look like fun? NO.
It looked like a lot of work.
I was hoping for a cat fight to break out, it would definitely
be more interesting than watching some chick try on 50
wedding dresses and still wasn't sure if she liked any of them.
Since I didn't get to see a fight, I amused my bitchy self
by telling my dog that the dresses in the sale were painfully
outdated. And she totally understood me.....

The next show was sort of fun about dance choreographers
who were choreographing the couple's first dance.
Mildly amusing, or was it the cold meds?

The next show featured a bride choosing her maid of honor
by putting them through a series of tests. The final
blow was when they took a lie detector test. She asked
some really cerebral thought provoking questions like
"Do you think you are prettier than me?" (Who the f- cares?)
"Did you ever date any of my ex's?" What does that
have to do with being her maid of honor? I wanted to
slap her senseless. It was insulting to the viewers.
It was insulting to her friends, that is, if they
are still speaking to her after the show.

Some of these brides don't show up in the best light,
(and of course I'm sugar coating here, they look dumb),
yet something makes them sign on for these innane shows.
Is it money? The 15 minutes of fame? WHY???????

Wedding Day Shoot Out!

Talk about a wedding day disaster,
and its over dogs!! Geeze!
